Yes, it's time for another westlaw break. I'm singing badly along with Texas, thinking of Glasgow and Columbia. So it's a far-traveling pause.
The muse of caselaw still smiles on me though. Should be an interesting week. Although I'm not the slouchiest researcher, I'm a mole hill next to one of my judges' mountain when it comes to finding obscure on-point cases in quirky areas. The stuff she turns up practically says, "Oh, and if anyone is ruling on this issue in Feb. 2008 in courtroom XX, your holding should be thus."
I'm almost tempted to print out copies of the First, Fourth and Fifth amendments to give to the state along with the caselaw. Hmm.
I did some work on the roof and the balcony today (short sleeves and sandals of course) - here's a just before sunset shot off of my balcony, looking westward toward the ocean.
And, per Atomic's request - here's me with Miami beard #1, which is now gone. I wore my old Imperial for a few days before I took everything off. If I look dog-tired, it's because I am. Note the glowing aura though. I think it's kinda nice.
A friend wrote: And what kind of beard are we growing this time? I still think you
should grow all the beards of history. Just think, if you do the
Ancient Egyptian styles, you won't even have to henna it or plait in
gold - it's already there! I think a Mesopotamian beard will work
wonders in the court room.
I will have to give this idea serious consideration.

There are a lot of ruins in Mesopotamia.

Shelly's "Ozymandias"
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said--"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desart....Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings,
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

TMBG - "The Mesopotamians"
...
The Mesopotamish sun is beating down
And making cracks in the ground
But there's nowhere else to stand
In Mesopotamia (No one's ever seen us)
The kingdom where we secretly reign (And no one's ever heard of our band)
The land where we invisibly rule
As the Mesopotamians
Sargon, Hammurabi, Ashurbanipal, and Gilgamesh
...
